Bird Feeder Bandit

I was doing some work on my computer and kept hearing this clanking sound in the backyard. "What is the neighbor up to now?" I thought as he's always working on some project or another. Well, it wasn't the neighbor as you can see!
Clever teddy, I'd let him have what ever he wants.

@joysabin Thank you Joy! Actually I scared him off just by talking to him while I took his picture. He decided breakfast wasn't as enjoyable with the camera lady babbling away and left.

@joysabin @eudora @taffy @photographycrazy @momamo @edorreandresen @louannwarren @lynnz @robz

Thank you Joy, Diane, Taffy, Bill, Monique, Dorre, Lou Ann, Lynn and Rob!

We do not get bears often-more this year than before but not like some do in this area. You will all scold me but I took this shot outside on my deck while he tried to figure out how to get more seeds out. I was close enough to the door to run but black bears are typically not attackers- unless you go after their food and I was not about to do that. I think he found me quite annoying as the whole time I was shooting, I kept talking to him- that was enough to make the meal less appealing and off he rambled to raid someone else's backyard.

@peterday Thanks Peter- missed you in the above list somehow!

@mittens Thanks Marilyn! Looks like I missed you too!

A lovely capture of your visitor I don't like the look of those claws though .

@wendyfrost Thank you Wendy! Yes, they're pretty powerful- he'll grow into them a bit but you'd still want to stay clear of them!
September 8th, 2019
very brave of you to step outside Ann. Glad he did not think of you as lunch
Great capture

@ninaganci Thank you Nina- no, these bears are more docile than aggressive. But you do have to treat them with respect and give them their space.

Fun to see, but a bit scary. I guess that's the end of bird feeding for the moment.

@randystreat Thank you Kathy! Done with bird feeding until a new feeder arrives. I don't know what he snapped, but it won't work properly now and I can't figure out how to fix it. This one has served me well though!

He looks like a gentle giant. Sorry that he damaged the bird feeder.
September 10th, 2019
@salza Thank you Sally! I took a second look at the feeder today and was able to figure out why it wasn't working correctly and then how to fix it- so it's back in working order now!

Wow, this is amazing! I’d love to see a bear in my back yard
September 15th, 2019
OMG -- it's a BEAR trying to eat your birdseed! the closest encounter I've ever had with a bear only ended with a paw print photo: http://365project.org/jyokota/challenges-and/2015-11-01

@jyokota I bring it in every night so that the deer, raccoons, possum and bears don't get to it- but as you can see- this one visited in broad daylight. Of course, I was on the deck taking photos...

Better a paw print on the door than one inside the car!

@olivetreeann -- what adventures you live near! No wonder you need run out of things to photograph.
May 26th, 2020
@jyokota The only thing you will NOT find me running out to photograph is a snake. I'm deathly afraid of them. Of course, I keep my distance from the skunks too. (o;
