I've always loved these trees with the big pink flowers, but I have no idea what they are. As I was snapping pics, I saw a couple of hummingbirds zipping around, but I was unable to capture one.
I spent some time trying to fine tune this one to enhance the flowers, but the more I messed with it, the more messed up it got. LOL
They really are very pretty. I'll just have to try again for another shot in the sunlight.
**After much Googling, I found what kind of tree it is!
Chorisia speciosa, or Kapok tree, or silk floss tree.
I've never seen anything like it. It looks similar to a clematis but the centre bit is too long for that I think. Whatever it is it's very beautiful xx
@webfoot I'm familiar with the tree you describe and I *think* this is the same tree, but I'm not positive. I didn't pay attention to the trunk (I was on the outside of the property focused on the flowers). I'll drive by tomorrow and see if it has those wicked thorns.
I will start here and go backwards soon in commenting. I had to stop by quickly before bedtime after reading your comment about my collage. I love this photo. The detail and colors are so beautiful. Considering you say that you know nothing about photography, you are doing really well. I have not been able to capture a good hummingbird photo, it is hard to do. Before you start cropping a photo, make a copy of it and use the copy to work with and save your original. Have fun with your photos and collages. This is a great place to be for all who have an interest in photography up to those who professionally shoot photos. It is also all about the person behind the camera in combination with the subject that you are taking photos of. Enjoy!!

Thank you so much. @webfoot
I stopped by Tues to check the trunk for thorns. I had to look hard, because there weren't many and those were up pretty high. It is in a fenced area with picnic tables and lawn, so I wonder if the thorns had been removed for safety.
