I had seen these plants around on occasion and never looked twice at them because I'm not really into desert landscaping.
Well, once I saw his photo, I noticed just how numerous these plants are in the S. California area. Honestly, they are EVERYwhere...almost. Now, when I spot one, I can't help but pause to admire the unusual patterns on the leaves. They are like individual fingerprints, telling you its history.
I was determined to post a shot of my own at some point, and yet didn't want to be too much of a copycat. I thought it took quite well to a little manipulation. I like the spiky shadow created by the leaf blade on the left.
If you're not familiar with this yucca plant, please take a look at Paul's version so you can see it in its natural state.
Wow this is abslotuely stunning! I love love the processing you used! The shadows are outstanding and I like that you went with B&W! Such a super capture! And great info about the plant! Very coool! :)

Thank you. It is a pencil sketch effect from Picasa. I've toyed with it on other photos, but it never looked right until this time. It has to be the right 'fit' for it to look right. I knew before I tried it, that it would be perfect here.
Thank you all so much. I liked it, and I'm glad you do too. :-)

@darsphotos
Thanks so much. I hadn't noticed the resemblance to wood. Maybe I should try a version in sepia and see how it looks.
