After yesterday's rain, the lizards were out in the sun, soaking up the warmth. Now that I know where they hang out, I approach with caution. If I move in slowly enough, I can sometimes get quite close.
It paid off here...sorta. He's not in the best position, but I took what I could get. At first I was irritated by the 'forked tail' effect caused by the shadow, but now I think it adds an interesting twist.
And most of the lizards I've seen here are the dark color that had me so confused as to their species, but my reptile friend assured me that they are indeed Western Fence Lizards (also known as Blue Bellies or Swifts. Yeah, they are VERY swift.)
Please view large if you'd like to enjoy more of his scaly goodness. :-)
If you look at his eye I think he is watching you!
