A short walk "...to the lighthouse...", not Skye for us but Fiskardo and a Venetian era lighthouse (16th century). The Venetians were welcomed as liberators from Turkish rule, and the resulting trade and cultural benefits did much to improve standards of living. Some aspects of Venetian rule were not as benign, and the ruling class system they introduced eventually led to Civil War in the mid-18th century. The earthquake of 1953 means this lighthouse (and some other buildings in this northern part of the island) are very rare signals to the island's rich history. The lighthouse, and its 19th century cousin nearby, still remains a significant landmark for modern day sailors as it is visible to seaward long before any signs of the actual harbour itself.
Now, I've checked this horizon level with a ruler and the ruler is telling me the image is level. But it doesn't look like it to me. No idea what is going on...
I know what you mean about the horizon - photos can be full of optical illusions! I like the way the landscape fades to pale blue in the distance and the contrast of colours in the foreground
