When every yard has a lake… by rhoing

When every yard has a lake…

… these creatures can be anywhere, I guess. This one is just hangin’ out in the Black-eyed susans.

From all the yellowish, orangish spots on the head and leg, I’m guessing this is an Eastern Box Turtle (Terrapene carolina carolina). If so, then it’s probably a female, since the eye color is not red.

Such interesting creatures and great shot! There have been a few box turtles around here. She looks healthy!
