Recently we heard noises in the attic space above our bathroom. I checked *in* the attic; no evidence of any critters, two-legged or four.
We called a pest control service; the guy looked in the attic, too, and saw no evidence and suggested it was birds on the gutter several feet away. Mmmm. We don't think so.
So I set a ladder in our closet where the attic access is located with the plan that I would look the next time we heard noise. That would be a couple mornings later.
Again, nothing in the attic. So I went outside — with camera. This photo has been interesting to everyone who's seen it. A big, ol' bird has been building a nest in the bathroom fan vent duct work. (Actually, both vent caps vent an upstairs bathroom and there was nesting material in both ducts.)
A year ago, we had insulation blown into our attic, http://365project.org/rhoing/365/2017-02-23 In order to do that, they had to add the ducting to vent the exhaust fans. So this year, a pair of creative and determined birds thought this would be a good place for a nest.

Birds can be determined and find their way into all sort of tiny places! And they make a noise! Our present house is totally confined and fortunately no pests anywhere!
