Variegated fritillary

It seems I haven’t seen one of these (Euptoieta claudia) for six years, so this has to be my post and submitted to BAMONA and BugGuide to show that the species was here this year.
» “Temporary Colonist,” meaning “species does not survive winters or other seasons in this location, but does immigrate & reproduce in the locality” (BAMONA glossary).

» ID'ed as Euptoieta claudia or “Variegated fritillary”: [ BAMONA ] [ BugGuide ]

I miss seeing butterflies. I really need to get some flowering shrubs and plants planted for next year. Although the grasses in my garden have been hosting indigo buntings. Exciting to see them.
