page 136, The Man Who Loved Books Too Much by Allison Hoover Bartlett
walking along the path (after i've done more deliveries to the neighboring buildings - no one else wanted to take the time to volunteer, but somebody's got to do it) at lunchtime, i came across this group of young people all dolled up for a hallowe'en party. i asked if i could take their photo and they were quite amazed that somebody's shown any interest in them. they obliged and as you can see they even hammed it up for the camera. the first shot i took they were all smiling until i told them to look scary, please. and they did. you can say they made a 'performance' for the camera.
i don't know what they're supposed to be, zombies, methinks, trying to zombify the handsome kid with the red bandanna.
@olivetreeann - thank you, ann. after i took their photo, i told them there are headless people behind them, and they did a double take but recovered quickly and laughed.
@cscecil - haha! i didn't plan that. it just so happened that they were near the haberdasherie. when they agreed for me to take their photo, they politely suggested that they should maybe step to the side. so no planning, but fortuitous! thank you, CS.
@bkbinthecity - it was fun. there are a lot of people in the malls who are dressed up like this. i would imagine a lot more on monday, it being the actual hallowe'en day/night. thanks.
@jannkc - it was easy to ask this particular time, they were just chatting in the middle of the mall and they figured their faces can't be discerned anyway, except for the one guy. thanks, jann.
what a fantastic shot, fav for me. love it, love it, love it! wish you had caught their faces when you told them about the headless people behind them!
@catsmeowb - sorry, camille. i wasn't quick with the capture as i was also surprised with my realization. thank you, camille. and thanks, too, for the fav.
@espyetta - i agree, MB! this challenge is a real challenge: really digs into your creativity, especially that the book i chose is quite sparse with the more predictable words. thanks, MB.
how appropriate that your storefront background has 3 headless people in it!! And I want to congratulate you for getting up the nerve to ask people if you can take their photo!! yay you!!!! Does this mean that your are hanging up your stalkers hat?
@roth - not a chance! i like stalking people and taking sneak shots at them (i should probably re-phrase that sentence hehehe!). i thought in that instance it was not so embarrassing to ask and had they declined i'd have done a sneak shot anyway. thank you, sue.
