we had our office Christmas party (they call it "holiday" party, but whatever!) at the Carlton-Ritz in downtown toronto, a stone's throw away from the office.
the food was splendid (see bottom row)
organic baby greens and spinach with pear-textures, candied walnuts and creamy gorgonzola dressing
fine herb crusted atlantic halibut with pasta, mushrooms, corn in a white wine sauce
chocolate espresso cake with apricot glaze and pistachio vanilla cream
savoured with Henry of Pelham sauvignon blanc, Shorthills Bench, Niagara, 2009, and very wholesome bread which was not included in that bread photo because i ate the wholesome and nutritious ones hehehe! the table had a very lovely centrepiece, which i didn't win because i was designated by the table as referee so it ended up with one of the women who will retire at the end of the year.
the hotel is quite classy, the chandeliers in the ballroom are of swarovski crystals and the decors are first class. the restroom is beautiful and i would've taken a picture if it wasn't always full of the women fixing their faces.
and this sets me back again from catching up with commenting. ahh, there's always the weekend.
@karenann - oh yes, i did enjoy it. my plates were all cleaned up. i suppose with all the filipino food i've been eating until last week, this was a good change for my system. the halibut was a big serving, surprisingly. and i had two desserts! shhhh! that's our little secret!:-) thank you, karenann.
@bkbinthecity - that means you'll have an extended Christmas celebration, er, i mean 'holiday' celebration. thank you, brian.
@olivetreeann - thank you, ann. there were funny jokes during the program, raffles (i didn't win, i never win anything) and a lot of dancing, too.
@steeler - i did. i really didn't eat much except for a few days here and there while i was away, plus i was actually doing some real jogging, but coming back at the start of the holiday parties and lunches, it's not looking good for my cholesterol! thanks again, howard.
@michaelelliott - recovering from that 3-week sojourn in the tropics. and yes, am back in action and slowly making my way to all your postings and albums. saw your lit bridge whilst away and before i could make any comment internet connection went pffft! thank you, ME.
@catsmeowb - i did have a wonderful time. why can't our small group have our own on-line holiday party, huh? :-) thank you, camille.
Nice feast. I've missed all your recent photos since I haven't had time for 365! Glad you had a great holiday party. =) We had our party at the ROM but I couldn't go - I always miss the good parties!
@danig - i had one and a half of it, friend. the two seats next to me was unoccupied but for some reasons they put desserts on them. so while i was eating my dessert, i was taking a picture of a second one. then i couldn't remember how my dessert tasted like to i ate half of my 'model'. thank you, DG.
love the festive collage. We will have our Christmas party on friday and working where I do it is a CHRISTmas party...and I hear we will be line-dancing...muah ha ha...I am the photographer for the event...
what an awesome collection of pics! love your descriptions to go with them, it's sad that people like your company reps are so reluctant to use the word Christmas.
