i don't have a lot of jewellery and that's because i don't care much for them anymore. i used to have a lot of them but after i got held up, then my apartment was robbed, i learned not to care about them. where i grew up you cannot wear them just about anywhere especially when you take public transport lest you put yourself in danger.
partner gave me a diamond ring a long time ago when we first stayed together. there was a sale at a pawnshop and we saw this little ring which really grabbed me. he paid $200 for it, and i didn't mind where it was bought. it is the thought that counts, it is the symbol or the intrinsic value that is more important. had he paid more than that for a ring, i'd have whacked him in the head.
what i consider my more important jewellery are my crystal glasses from which, when you come to my home for a meal, you will drink the best wine i can afford; the bavarian chinaware that is taken out of the cabinet when i serve a delicious meal, using an elegant matching tableware. that's why when my friends come over for dinner, they feel special using my treasured jewellery. and that's the only reason i have household insurance :-)
Oh you are such a precious person, summerfield. You are pure sunshine. This photo is stunning . . the lighting is so gorgeous against that dark background. But you have your priorities in the right place in life. Stay that way. :)
@karenann - okay, i'm the first to object to that 'pure sunshine' comment. :-) because i know i am not hahahaha! thank you, karenann. the last remaining items in this bucket list are quite difficult to interpret.
This is an interesting picture but not half so interesting as your comments. I too used to have more jewelry but found that what I really treasure is often flimsy and hand made or old and battered. Anything that holds a memory of a loved one is more valued than any jewel.
I really like the lighting in this- quite sparkly! I'm not big on jewelry either. Have a handful of treasured pieces (semi-valuable- but more sentimental). I'd rather go see my grandchildren than spend money on a bauble. So, I like your thinking! Beautiful shot!
amazing lighting summerfield. sorry I have been absent for so long...but I have had no work since before Christmas and now I do not have internet access at home at all (got to save money somewhere). I have some pics and hope to get out to a wifi cafe over the weekend but can't be sure it's gong to happen. Glad you liked the postcards - they were taken just as tourist snaps...and the reaction I got from my friends when I posted them on Facebook was what inspired me to go out and get a much better camera and be a bit more serious about taking pics. The company that makes the cards is called Moo (moo.com) and you can get sets of 20 (or 60) cards all with different images. I think they make very nice gifts.
@pandorasecho - i'm with you. thank you, dixie.
@michaelelliott - thank you, ME. so glad.
@sunnygreenwood - thank you, anne. :-)
@slang - so glad you approve :-) than you, sean.
@steeler - yeah, full of my one ring and one earing (lot the other). thank you, howard.
@patticake - thank you, patti. hope all goes well. i'm going to check out moo.com. take care.
