this is my new pair of progressive eyeglasses which i wore this morning doing my crossword puzzles and sudoku puzzles while riding the subway to work. i also wore the pearl necklace.
the pair of glasses is one of the four pairs i had made during my holiday in manila last year, all for a cheap price of ten thousand pesos or the equivalent of $263. this one alone would've cost me more than that if i had bought it here! the pearl necklace i also bought in manila when i visited in 2003 for the equivalent of $5.
the perfume is 'glamorous' by ralph lauren. it is more than 10 years old. i can't wear it nor any other perfume because i'm sensitive to the smell but i like the simplicity of the bottle and there's a big rhinestone on the top. the perfume itself is almost gone because methinks it evaporizes being near the rads.
Beautiful composition and wonderful soft lighting. This is such a wonderful glimpse of you, summerfield. All I can say is that I'd sure like to go shopping with you!!
Very nice composition. When I got glasses I went with bi-focals now I am thinking I should have gone with progressive lenses. I have not done a crossword puzzle in a while. Now I find myself taking a book with me on my way to work
I stopped wearing scent for a long time ...some gave me a headache. But I started back a year ago with an old favorite, Lauren. Now I am trying Flirt- Rock and Rebel which I find out now is a bit grapefruity. I love grapefruit shampoo ...wakes me up in the AM...that, or mint. Anyway, I like my progressive lenses ,but they were LOTS more that that cost up there. Lucky you.
@karenann - cross processed :-) but i lost the purple colour of the glasses in the processing. a long time ago, in the early 90's, i went to mexico with two of my officemates. i was so pissed because the locals thought i was one of them so i couldn't get good service from the hotel staff. however, when we went shopping at the local market, my little spanish helped a lot with haggling. a vendor would quote a ridiculous amount of 3,000 pesos for a skirt and i would haggle starting from 200 pesos to get it at 800 pesos. the two girls were quite shocked at how low i try to get things but it's almost the same way as in the old country. in the end they enjoyed the shopping because they got a lot for their money, unexpectedly. but i won't go vacationing anymore to a strange place where the locals look like me, unless it's in manila. and you're welcome to come along with the shopping :-). thank you, KA.
@bkbinthecity - they say it takes a lot of getting used to that progressive thing. the shop from where i bought my pair did a wonderful job so that i really don't have to adjust to it. apparently a lot of foreigners and tourists go there to have their prescription glasses done. thank you, brian.
@espyetta - clinique at one time had a scent that agreed with me, but after a few use, i still had a reaction. thank you, MB.
@cscecil - thank you, CS. i don't always wear my glasses. i need them to drive so i got them. my former eye doctor discouraged me from wearing glasses all the time because they don't really correct your vision. you just become dependent on them.
I love how you've put everything together here for a photograph. Very thoughtful set-up, with a great touch of elegance. Wonderful lighting and color tones!
Great still life of your wearables :) I wish my glasses would only cost that much - I usually have to spend more than that on frames alone for one pair!
@myautofocuslife - thank you, livia. the three items other than the glasses are how they are in my "vanity dresser" (i placed a corkboard on top of the radiator then covered it with an old white curtain and table runner), i just removed the other crap around it. then i placed the glasses. i have to put the glasses in their case or i will break them :-) i also used cross process effect, about 25% to give it that tone. i love cross process - i think it gives the photo its own personality.
@meoprisan - thank you, mihaela. that's quite flattering, but i tend to clutter every corner of my apartment. i don't have a real vanity dresser, this is just on top of the radiator that's covered with a white cloth. i had to remove the clutter around it so i could have the effect i wanted.
@alia_801 - thank you, alia. same here, these are expensive, it could really put a dent on your savings. but i had that brilliant idea last year that since i was going on vacation, i might as well have the glasses done there, and wow! was it all worth it. my insurance company should love me for that: four pairs of glasses for the half the cost of one.
This has a timeless feel to it. I love the glasses. Mine are now trifocals and my neck gets sore trying to keep the right part of the lens on what I'm looking at at the moment.
@pandorasecho - the left side of my glasses is actually trifocal, this pair was the most expensive of the four. but i don't always have to wear it. thank you, dixie.

@sarasdadandmom - thank you, terry.
@pamfromcalgary - thank you, pam. until you pointed it out, i didn't notice the shadow. i like it, too!

@steeler - thank you, howard.
@paulavdmerwe - thank you, paula.
@beba8162 - oh, wow. thank you, roberta.
@sunnygreenwood - and my insurance, i'm sure, was quite happy for their savings. thank you, anne.
