apparently the waxing crescent moon is only 1.97% today, hardly visible and if it was you'd have seen it only for a short time because it would have had a short rise and set cycle. and it would have been visible in the west at dusk; fat chance of that happening as there were thick dark clouds in the west at dusk. we're supposed to get rained on until tomorrow and intermittently during most of the weekend.
so, i give you a filler from last month's new moon. there are a few good websites that give you information on the moon, the times it rises and sets and the particular phase for that day, including the current weather in your area. try googling 'current moon phase' and you will get hundreds of sites.
i have posted moon shots quite a few times since i learned to shoot it in manual with my canon.
@pamfromcalgary - pam, rain is in the forecast for us this weekend so it's going to be super crappy. but then the weather changes so often it just might not be the case. thank you, pam, and here's hoping you'll see good weather this weekend.
wow! This is awesome, I haven't even come close to mastering a moon shot. Great contrast in this and it's nice to see a moon that isn't full once in a while.
@meoprisan - it was quite difficult. it was windy and cold every time i try to get a shot at the moon. and when it's windy it's hard to focus the zoom, somehow the image dances on the camera. i was going to crop the photo because of too much blank space but i thought it added to the perspective. thank you, mihaela.
@myhrhelper - i always like to point out i captured that with a point and shoot. not too shabby, eh? thank you, kathy.
@bkbinthecity - yup! thank you, brian.
@marzenka - thank you. much appreciated.
@steeler - it should be more visible now. i'm going to stake it during dusk if it's clear enough around here. thank you, howard.
@alia_801 - thank you, alia. magic's moon was better i think!
@cscecil - thank you, CS.
