i used to spell this word as argyll when i lived in another planet thousands of years ago. argyle is a series of intersecting diamond patterns, a design in fashion which the Duke of Windsor (formerly the Prince of Wales and later King Edward VIII, all before he became 'duke' - some of you may know the story) helped to popularize via his polo and golf games.
i never cared much for this design although i got the grandsons their matching argyle sweaters two Christmases ago. i draw the line on argyle socks although that's an individual choice for many. and what i cannot stand are 'chubby' legs wearing argyle designed tights, again individual choice, but gheez! darlings, they make your legs look even chubbier!
Love the picture AND the pattern!! Beautiful colors and great comment. Would I wear it? Nope .. I prefer the "plain, black look." Leave out the rest. :)
@karenann - thank you, karenann. i'm with you, girlfriend. i like it on others when it looks good on them, but not on me.
@jannkc - thank you, jann. hahaha! funny. i once dated a brit who wore argyle sweaters and socks. years later i saw him with his american wife in san francisco and boy, they were wearing matching argyle sweaters. they were cute. i was thankful.
@roth - sue, i used to call this 'that thingamajiggy pattern' until an officemate told told me what it's called. i thought argyll was some kind of a monster bird or something! :-) thank you, sue.
LOL... interesting. The pattern is not to my taste, but it is very popular with a lot of people. Its a historic pattern.
Nice one thanks for the information.
@netkonnexion - i think you are right, it's a matter of taste. i see this on a lot of people and i might say most of the time it does not 'fit'. i know i won't be caught dead wearing it, along with plaid and flannel. thank you, damon.
@olivetreeann - thank you, ann. i was thinking if the boys were here i could've dressed them up with their argyle sweaters. they do love to put on nice clothes. but this would have to do!
@cscecil - thank you, CS. they don't do argyle in the midwest, do they? :-)
I think maybe I have seen one argyle sweater done where I might have worn it. It was in pink and the argyle part was just a band across the top....But I still did not buy it! Nice capture of a pattern that no one seems to want to wear! haha
It's a lovely pattern. Like a lot of other lovely patterns. Polka dots, stripes, etc. I like seeing patterns but I don't wear them. I stick to boring blocks of color. Cool shot! 8)
@myautofocuslife - thank you, livia. i very seldom wear anything with patterns. a few years ago, i bought a summer dress that was so comfortable and pretty but it had big flower prints and i wore it only twice - i chanced to see myself in a mirror and i thought i was wearing my aunt's living room drapes!
Great pattern capture. Like the tones of it too. I for one am not an argyle wearing person. But I can see where it can fit certain people, but in others..... not so much. Lol

@ataylor - thank you, A-M.
