this is the east side of our apartment building. we have a 'private' enclave. there used to be an old maple tree about the third post of the fence but it fell when the city's contractors dug around its roots to put up this wooden fence last year. well, duh! the tree just fell one day and it took them a long time to do anything. it was nice to have that tree as it shaded the impatients that partner planted every year in front of the living room window. that window at the bottom end is part of my living room window. the city compensated the owner by laying grass on this part of the property.
the nice young men living in the apartment north of us planted some climbing vines last year and it's looking good. partner plans to put a trellis by the fence fronting my living room window and he will be planting some climatis; well, i'm waiting, i suppose he has all summer to do it. there is a big planter of nettle on the other side of the window which is not visible in this shot.
the other side of the fence? it's the parking lot.

i'm wearing my writer's hat in preparation for the writing retreat i'm going to attend tomorrow. i really really need a kick in the butt with this writing thing. maybe it's not a good idea to get that new dSLR. too late now, though :-)
that's my way of telling you i will be behind again in my duties at commenting and viewing your posts, but you know that i will manage to catch up. don't miss me too much as it's just a one day retreat. i'm not that easy to get rid of.
thank you for your views and comments. know that they are much appreciated.
@pamfromcalgary - thank you, pam. am really looking forward to the clematis that he promised me :-)
@bkbinthecity - thank you, brian. i was told it's beautiful in there, so even if i fail in the writing department, i'm pretty sure i'll be taking some good photos!
@sunnygreenwood - thank you, anne. i hope it doesn't rain or i'll be staying in and be forced to keep writing hahaha!
@pandorasecho - thank you, dixie. for your encouragement, too, and that means a lot to me. i was going to do the nanowrimo last year but was in manila for almost all of november so i thought i'd do it this year. i think i will definitely do it this year. to write almost 2,000 words a day is probably not a problem, to write 2,000 words meaningfully is the challenge.
a writing retreat. envious! what a busy, busy life you lead! like this shot of the outside of your building very much. nicely composed. have a great time this weekend and don't work too hard.
This is a very interesting pov! I love your photography you are talented and when you get your dslr it will open up another world for you, but of course it has to be at the right timing with all your priorities. Sometimes I have to remember to put that camera down.
@russianblue - funny, but those were exactly the same things we picked up on the way back to toronto out of scugog. thank you, kass.
@catsmeowb - thank you, camille. i did have a great weekend, and yesterday i treated partner to sushi dinner. it was too hot to do any barbecuing so i said preliminary father's day treat, sushi. we'll go out for a proper dinner on wednesday.
@pandorasecho - are you going to do it? if i do it, it might get in the way of photography. hehehe! i got to decide soon if i'm a photographist or a writer. although i can be both, can't i? thank you, dixie.
@myhrhelper - thank you, kathy, especially for your encouraging words. i can't wait till i retire, then i can do everything i want to do barring a thermonuclear explosion.
@summerfield Yeah. I've started getting up early and not doing anything before I sit at my computer two hours. No Internet allowed and I get a gold star on my calendar when I finish. So I get to write or think. That is all. I am a recorder I think. I paint. Write. Take pictures. It seems like I have to share the beauty I see in this crazy world
I like the brick work on your building! Too bad about the tree, but the Climatis will be a lovely addition (when it's planted!). Hope you enjoyed the conference!
