gorgeous day in our city and even up northeast where we drove, again as a lark. i didn't expect we would go any further after the breakfast but partner just kept driving. the one thing i get pissed off sometimes: he won't tell me his plans. he's always thinking he'd surprise me, but i always end up getting mad because i wasn't prepared or anything. normally when i know we'll be going to take photos, i'd bring my canon as a back up. today, for the first time in more than a year, the canon got left at home.
anyway, we drove through small towns where the houses and buildings were old and old style but gorgeous and elegant structures. in a long stretch of road where houses were sparsely scattered, we came upon a muslim cemetery with a huge and quite attractive mosque. the dome is of gold (or something that resembles gold) and glistened in the morning light. the structure itself is quite simple, the lines, the colour. it could've easily been non-descript if not for its golden toppings.
thank you for your kind views and comments; know that they are much appreciated.
What a great find ....I wouldn't mind surprises like this at all. That dome is the "star attraction." A gorgeous pov and love your lighting here again! The blue sky and the gold dome just go together ... would you rather have used your Canon on this one?!
@karenann - no, i find the canon sometimes does not capture the real colour of some objects or scenery. i have to process the photo in the canon program that came with the camera to get the 'real' colour. for example, the colour purple in flowers is captured as blue, and the colour deep red is captured as orangey red and loses the velvety texture. i've tried it in different lighting conditions and WB adjustments but i get the same results. my new camera, however, captures the real colour of the subject, so that most of the time, my nikon shots are sooc. thank you, KA.
@karenann - P.S. - it's nice to have a back-up camera though, especially when the darn battery is used up. the nikon, if it has happened to you yet, would simply shut down when the battery gets low. the canon p&s, the low-batt icon keeps blinking for a long time thus i'd have time to replace the batteries. i have ordered a back-up battery, but it's still good to have the p&s as it is a bit inconspicuous if i want to shoot covertly :-)
Yes, it can easily happen, summerfield. I do tend to forget to keep the battery charged, but still have managed to not let it get too low and it hasn't quit. YET. The one thing that I do forget frequently is to delete the previous photos ..... what a royal pain on upload. Ugh.
