partner and i had dinner at a restaurant uptown called 'ristorante roma', obviously an italian restaurant. we have a coupon book, "entertainment" and it has hundreds of two-for-one coupons, ranging from fine dining to fast food, ball games, dry cleaning, car rental, hotel discounts, etc. so in essence, partner and i eat at half price, however, we do make it a point to give our server a big tip, usually the amount of the free meal and more, depending on our final bill and the kind of service we get.
this was partner's entrée - veal marsala with mushrooms in red wine reduction over linguini valenciana, pasta that's loaded with shrimp, calamari rings and baby scallops and topped with a single tiger shrimp. i had risotto which was loaded with stuff like his linguini. he had a glass of chilean shiraz, i had iced tea. for dessert, we had split a serving of tiramisu.
thank you, ladies and gents, for your views and visits; i do appreciate and enjoy them a lot.
as always, you captured a fantastic food shot. i was so surprised to see meat in it! wonderful job, terrific description, you go to some interesting restaurants.
@sarasdadandmom - thank you, terry. on our first dinner date, partner used a coupon, wasn't apologetic at all, and i didn't mind. heck, i don't have any problem getting discounts even at fine dining!
@sarasdadandmom - yes, he was, actually. imagine us all dressed up and after finishing the meal he gave the discount card to the waiter before finalizing the bill. i didn't show any embarrassment, in fact i was quite proud of him. that's why we clicked, we both love going out to good restaurants and love the discount. we still do the same thing and that entertainment book is ordered well in advance just to keep us going! he tells me all the time, i am the best date ever! :-D
i am laughing here, reading your reply to terry. wonderful! we use coupons, discount cards, whatever lowers the price on whatever we need. if the savings go into our pockets instead of THEIRS, we are happy since it is our money we are putting back into our pockets. said it before - great minds.
@salza - thank you, sally. i tasted a piece of the mushroom and it was very good. too bad i don't eat meat, but partner assured me it was excellent!
@orangecrush - thank you, jerry. i don't eat meat but i got a piece of the mushroom. it was excellente!
@jannkc - thank you, jann.
@steeler - i hope jackie didn't have to clean the monitor! :-) thank you, howard.
@catsmeowb - that was partner's entree. mine was seafood risotto which was boring and which i dug in right away so i didn't get a proper photo. :-)
@claireuk - don't worry, i ate my risotto and had a glass of rose just for you. :-) thank you, claire.
@eniaral - thank you, laraine.
