my friend mary @mcsiegle is once again my get pushed partner and her challenge to me was to photograph something that makes me laugh out loud.
every year we have this event in Toronto called "word on the street". when I was actively writing, i used to take in this event, and twice had a booth when my writing group's anthology got published. it's not the same thing anymore, there are no more freebies and most of the merchants won't even give you a free book mark unless you buy something. it used to be that as soon as you enter the gates they give you a large bag and you use that to carry all the freebies you get from the different publishers. times they are indeed a-changing.
this clown was at the north entrance of the venue and was desperately trying to make some little children laugh. i stood on the sidewalk watching him do all kinds of antics but the two girls just won't laugh and wouldn't have anything to do with him at all. he tried to give them little balloons but they won't accept it. the two girls reached the point when they couldn't stand it anymore and one screamed "i hate clowns!". their daddy tried to calm them down saying, "yes you do love clowns. they're funny!" the clown made funny faces, but even i wasn't laughing. the daddy was pleading for the little girl to at least look at the clown when she said, "i don't want to! he has bad breath!" the clown was taken aback and i should have had that shot of him not smiling but i was too engrossed watching. the girl kept repeating "he has bad breath!" the daddy couldn't decide if he was to laugh or not, but it just cracked me up to the consternation of the clown. but what's he to do, smack me?
and that, my friend mary, is something that made me laugh out loud last sunday morning. thank you.
I think I can smell his breath from down here in Georgia! Pee yoo! What a funny story! Great for the get pushed. I do. It like clowns either....neither the bad breath ones or the ones with minty fresh breath
I'm smiling can't you see it. Had a trying day today at work, you have brought joy to my evening with you story. And yes I can see you smiling too!! Wonderful composition but said he had bad breath and probably didn't know it.
