Photographically a much less interesting day today, as my partners in fun -- my brother and his wife -- headed home this morning. Looking through challenges to inspire me (I did consider fillers from adventures earlier this week, but...), I ended up having fun with WWYD89 (in other album) and then trying to do something with a very boring sunset (inspired by the theme for the August book club about seeing the familiar in new ways). Both involved practice with editing.
For this shot, I was struck by the simplicity of the color blocks, but how much more interesting it became when I inverted the expected colors - darkness of sky dominating but leaving the water with the shine of the setting sun. I did think about what it might mean as an image of our future, but that almost seems to be too dark a thought! (Updated re Janine's comment below -- I like the idea of a future where we see something like this through space travel!)
I think my other posting is actually the more interesting image, but since I didn't take that one, decided I shouldn't put it in my main album. If interested, here's the link: http://365project.org/taffy/the-also-ran-ph/2013-08-09
Your pictures are beautiful! I'm glad you were assigned as my partner for this week's Get-Pushed challenge because I hadn't come across you yet. I had a hard time thinking of anything to challenge you to do! Here it is: a portrait in high key, either color or black and white, Have a good week!
@tracys Hi Tracy! I agree. I'm enjoying viewing your album and will get you a challenge soon. I don't do well with portraits. And high key is fascinating to me and I don't use it that much. So this is an excellent challenge!
@joanf@cathrinemitch Thanks Joan and Catherine! I appreciate your comments so much as always! Catherine, welcome back -- and thank you for the view-large and the fav!
Thanks JAnine, Quentin, Kathy, TSW, Joey, Hope, Wendy, Gena, and Timothy -- I appreciate your nice comments about this somewhat surreal shot.
Thank you so much for viewing and your positive response, Arefin, Dawn, Ana, Katarina, Cathy, and Gigi. I appreciate it so much!
