Thank you all so much for your response to yesterday's photos. Into the Light hopped into PP today because of your views, comments, and favs and I greatly, greatly appreciate it. This photo was taken on the way to the fountain and in my goal to show off our city, I thought it only fair to show the working side of it as a contrast to Chicago's more glorious side. This is the commuter train that I used to take in and out of the city as a kid, where just north the trains disappear under Millennium Park. I'm standing on the bridge looking down onto the tracks in the middle of rush hour. A train on the other side, heading south, had just left, draining the station of people for the moment. Since we are just south of the Loop, and this train is heading north, there wouldn't be many commuters catching it here.
Processed using silver efex (with @northy's photos in mind!).
A more frivolous shot of attacking sunflowers is in my alternative album: http://365project.org/taffy/the-also-ran-ph/2013-09-05
@fueast There is a Burlington northern, but I think this one was either Metra or Illinois Central. It's been fun thinking about the contrasting ways to convey the urban environment.
@olivetreeann@jyokota HI Ann and Junko -- yep, it was an odd sight, but there had just been two trains going by, and the southbound one drained the station of what looked like 100 people from where I was at a distance. I'm guessing another few minutes and it would have been full again.
