I've been trying to capture the structures under the L (elevated metro system in Chicago) since starting 365. I had bracketed three shots standing on Wabash at Washington Street and decided this one had potential for something so I played with post processing to bring out the rusty color and just hint at the city below. Thinking of Gloriously Rusty Tuesday and influenced by the selective color challenge (though this isn't).

this is really interesting processing and looks fabulous on the black. I think there are two photos in one here as I am loving the movement in the bottom of the photo. I am set here today feeling unwell but am wanting to get out and do some photography. You are very inspiring how you push yourself to go off and photograph wonderful things in your city.
Very interesting high key processing here. I love the movement and the selectively visible elements...creates an atmosphere almost of "this city life is getting me down", although I'm sure that is not your mood about Chicago!
This is really an amazing high key shot and the blur on the car and people give it a sense of movement and action. *Fav.
What a wonderful way to make an metal bridge look funky. Have you got a shot of what it looks like normally?
Oh I had a little moment of excitement when I saw this Taffy as I thought the structure looked familiar! I visited Chicago (very briefly) last year which probably doesn't sound very impressive but I'm from Australia and it was my first time in the USA! Anyways, intriguing idea and look and processing. I really like the clear view/visibility of the length of the tracks.
Love this high key shot - the movement of the cars and the way it shows the heavy structural elements while washing out the lighter elements. It seems to be like an artist's sketch of the important aspects of this scene. Fav!
Instant fav! It feels like you hit the pause button on a remote and that you could start the action again with a click! The combination of the rust above, the tail-light and the blue shirt just reach out and grab me!
Taffy, there is so much to love about this. The tones, the stark white, the movement and blur and the clever way my eyes have to cross the road to get to the lines that lead me away. Fav, big one.

You should be able to click to link to it. Good idea to have me add that -- thanks!
Love it!
