This is a section of the Mesquite Dunes to give a sense of the context we were photographing in during a few of the Death Valley Photo walks. In the photo I posted on the 16th - http://365project.org/taffy/365/2015-01-16 - you can see the 'small' mountain of the twin peaks just behind the dune we were climbing. And in Junko's photo - http://365project.org/jyokota/365/2015-01-20 - you can see a closeup of the sandy dunes in the center layer.
I find myself loving the foreground even more than the distance part, even though the distant hills have the beautiful colors. It's a great photo that keeps my eye moving around to all the beautiful bits of it!
