Fortunately for You, I'm Not Hungry

I thought this was an odd coupling of the wolf and magpie. It was either a fearless magpie or a wolf who favored a different type of protein. They were actually quite close to one another for at least a minute. Long enough for a quick bite/
A magnificent capture and wonderful details. That wolf is already licking his lips in anticipation! The background is stunning too, Fav !

Wonderful shot - but that wolf is definitely licking its lips. Watch out magpie!

Amazing capture
May 26th, 2018
Golly whizz, how extraordinary. I would have thought the magpie was toast when the wolf arrived.
May 26th, 2018
WOW, amazing shot.
May 26th, 2018
Amazing shot, not sure whether the magpie is very brave or rather stupid. Hope it survived to tell the tale.
May 26th, 2018
Incredible! I thought maybe through the magic of photoshop, you put the two of them together in the same photo!
May 26th, 2018
What a fabulous capture Taffy! Well done! The expression on the wolf’s face is priceless! Definitely licking his lips! Love it! Huge fav!

I must be the only person who doesn't find the wolf menacing! To me, it looks like they're having a conversation.
May 26th, 2018
Stunning image :)
May 26th, 2018
Wolf probably can't believe his luck - a snack turned up and had no idea they made a good menu addition! Makes for a fascinating juxtaposition of an image
May 26th, 2018
Indeed, he must have been full!
May 26th, 2018
Oh my, this is an incredible capture. Lucky for you to see this, camera in hand, smile.
May 26th, 2018
this is like a glimpse of the talking animals kingdom - i'm sure there's a story somewhere about where all animals can talk, much like a children's book. maybe in the animal paradise of @Weezilou - one more story to write when i retire (if someone doesn't write it first before then). great capture, miss taffy. aces!
May 26th, 2018
I suspect that both wolf and magpie know each other's capabilities.
May 26th, 2018
And long enough for a good picture

What a fantastic shot. It’s hard to believe that the wolf didn’t gobble up the magpie Fav
May 26th, 2018
@jnadonza no. Photoshop. Just cropped and softening background. I was so surprised. No aggressive movement at all from the wolf.

You have caught both animals in wonderful poses. The wolf looks much more reflective than I had imagined a wolf would look. :)

Congratulations on this making the TT, Taffy. It is such a wonderful photograph.
June 3rd, 2018
Wow this is amazing. It looks like something from Aesop's fables. How did you just come across a wolf like that? I don't think I've ever seen a wolf with my own eyes.
June 3rd, 2018
@louannwarren @gardenfolk Thanks for letting me know! Exciting to see it there!
@emma78 Thanks Emma...this was taken at the Centennial Zoo in Colorado Springs. The birds were free to fly in and out as there was no 'rooftop' to the area. The wolf (mom and dad) roam the area freely, but it is all enclosed. A one-way mirror let me see inside, and a camera inside the den showed the 8 week old wolf puppies. It was quite an experience.
June 4th, 2018
@taffy thanks for explaining how you came across a wolf. It’s a fab picture.
June 4th, 2018
@taffy simply amazing
June 5th, 2018
@jnadonza Thanks! While I don't love zoos, this one was quite sensitive to the way the wolves area was set up. I've never seen one this close before.
June 5th, 2018
Incredible moment in nature! And congrats on the TT Page! Fav!
