That's what Daddy Longlegs do...just hang out, posing when required, and apparently chewing holds in leaves when not otherwise engaged. This leaf was pre-hole-chewing so made a decent backdrop. Taken yesterday while practicing for today's garden tour 'job.' I culled today's photos down to 262, and now have to select those for the Flickr album that participants and other islanders will be able to view, and six framed collages, one for each homeowner who volunteered their garden/house for the tour. Lovely day that I guess I'll be revisiting for the next several weeks, whether I want to or not! Thanks for the fun comments about yesterday's spider. Yes, it's a jumping one, but fortunately it only jumped from the planter to a leaf, never toward me.
Their other favourite occupation seems to be spinning copious cobwebs in every room in the house! Great macro Taffy, hope the garden tour goes well for you.
Amazing detail, I shall look at a daddy long legs in a different light from now on. We get a lot of them here but I haven't ever looked at them so closely. fav.
That is stunning - something about the angle of the legs and its eyes looking at you. Something about its mouth reminds me of a prawn!! Hashtag Brit-Girl-Nutter-Again
They like to hang out on the side of our house and shed here- I think it's because the other bugs fly past them often. This is an excellent macro and I would guess those homeowners are going to love your pictures!
