This was my most challenging photo. I took three long exposure images, focusing each on a different tree trunk, then focus stacked in Photoshop. I took it into LR to tweak and finalized it in PS. Photos taken using a tripod in the water, next to my kayak, with my 180-600mm lens for a tight composition.
@joysfocus We saw one alligator -- I just saw its back, but a friend on the trip saw his head. I wasn't comfortable getting in the water at all! But I felt safe in the kayak.
@pdulis I don't think it was a national park -- definitely state parks in some cases and in others, I don't know what the designation was. Burton Lake, Lake Fausse Point -- those were two of the sites.
@jgpittenger Not sure exactly, but using my Manfrotto tripod, it was fully extended and water covered it up to about 6" below the ballhead. I was in the kayak, so not standing in the water (would have needed waders for that and the possibility of alligators made me too nervous to consider it!
This image captures the magical light and subtle colors of the swamp. Not too far from where I live, but I've never tried photographing in the swamp with a tripod.
