My Get Pushed 83 challenge from Rachel @rachelwithey was to "take a portrait of someone but not a candid shot? Something you set up a little and they are aware that you are going to take it." I took advantage of my colleagues in a meeting today with the promise that they could have any of the shots that they liked. This is Nate, one of our newest hires who is a wonderful addition to our faculty. My goal was to capture his smile and twinkle in his eye. Processed in Color Efex to create a soft look to the portrait, but not losing any of his expression.
A b&w portrait of Nate is in my extras/challenges album - http://365project.org/taffy/the-also-ran-ph/2014-02-17.

Oh well down! You definitely caught that twinkle in his eye. Although I love b&w portraits I prefer this color shot of Nate - Just something about this one that lets show the twinkle and sweet personality more.
@rachelwithey Hi Rachel -- here are two portraits for my challenge. This one and a B&W one (two different photos, same person). Thanks for the challenge -- it got me to get out my trusty 85mm and ask someone to be my 'subject' -- Nate was a great sport!
A good color portrait with good color coordination, even if it is an accident - blue shirt, eyes, and pen. This time I like the color version better than B&W.
Oh what a difficult but really great challenge, I most likely could not do this cos nobody would model for mr. You did good, looks like Nate has a warm personality and I can see that twinkle in his eyes, I really like the softness and that smile is so sweet. I bet he was really happy with this one!
