The lensbaby is a very challenging toy! I find it hard to get it focused where I want. Of today's shots, this was the most successful. I do like way it creates blur and bokeh. Improvement evidence -- am taking fewer to get one that works...but still deleting far more than keeping. The irises this year are doing so well -- exciting to see them blooming in our yard!
The focus is good Taffy and the bokeh is nice too. I looked at your link re the cost of the Lensbaby but boo Canon is almost twice as much and the postage is probably from the States so I will have to put on a wish list.
Which lensbaby did you get? I did not realize there were so many types until I looked them up to consider buying one. This iris shot is soft and pretty. The purple looks like silk!
@jyokota Are you home??? Thanks for your kind words on the shot. I tried sunset ones tonight -- massive fail, all deleted, and glad I had a few with my 105 as backup!
@taffy I arrived home this afternoon. I know how very hard it is to focus lens baby -- remember I only had THAT one to show you? I must practice on more beautiful things. Like this.
@dominica I've had the lensbaby a little less than a week and have only used it the past few days. So far, I'm thinking it is very very hard!! But in the end, I'd like to figure it out as I like the effect for a change of pace.
@elaine55@jyokota was able to buy one in Japan for the same price as what I spent. I'm guessing if you keep watching, and maybe check eBay, you'd be able to find one. I also suspect folks buy them and then give up (which has occurred to me, I admit) so eBay may be the best way to search!
@espyetta I got the MUSE model. It has an accordian in the lens so it's all done by hand, moving it in or out and tilting it. It's pretty cool, but hard.
@rachelwithey Thanks for the encouraging comment, Rachel! I was happy with this one, and then tried doing some sunsets. ALL were deleted...this thing is a tricky toy! But I do like the effect when it works.
I really like this shot Taffy so well done! The focus on the bud is great with the most beautiful bokeh. I am so tempted to buy one. I think I will check eBay as you suggested.
Wonderful capture. I have given out huge hints about Lensbaby and have a birthday coming up so my fingers are crossed. I have seen some amazing results from but agree with @ericdibosco that I have seen a lot that leave me saying "Why?". However, I love trying new gizmos and I shall watch you for hints and tips!
@judithdeacon That would be so great if you got one! I'm hoping that with several of us beginning, we can sort out how to do effective shots. I like the effect sometimes, as you and @ericdibosco both have said. Sometimes it just seems like a blurry shot. Other times, I'm just intrigued. Some of it seems to be whether or not there is a focal point.
