For my mentor group's 52 week theme which this phase is about landscapes. That's a challenge in the city! So...Pam, Marnie, Jane, Ruth, Rachel...I watched a tutorial on realistic HDR. This is combined from 3 shots because the bridge structure was so dark and the sky was gray and bright. I ended up with the ghost walking through, and don't love the image, but decided it does capture what the urban landscape is like -- always there are people, but not necessarily interacting. Construction is everywhere and the tall buildings form our canyons. We have waterways -- the river. So, in a way, this really is an urban landscape. I'm not sure it's worth working on more, but I did want you to know that as dull as it is, I did put thought and work into it!!

Landscapes have been a challenge -- gray skies mean the lake is totally boring, parks are brown and dismal, etc. Here's my best attempt for this week of tries!
Taffy, I don't find that dull at all! It seem the very essence of Urban Landscape! The framework, for you, is a bit different, and IMHO, I think "the singular ghost" is just perfect in there!
I think this is so interesting - urban landscape captured perfectly. The high buildings are indeed the canyons with the river flowing through it. Great explanation Taffy!! The HDR brings out the detail of the bridge structure and looks very realistic.Love the ghost!!
not dull at all. I love the feast of windows and the reflections in the water. The ghost can be read very meaningfully in the context of the urban landscape - the least permanent of all the elements making up the picture. The strong heavy girders of the bridge being, by contrast, the most permanent.
I like this as is, but all the HDR software that I've ever tried (including PS and LR) has a ghost removal option if that is what you want so I'm left wondering what you used to process this?
@vignouse I used Photomatix and decided to include the ghost more as statement -- that in a city landscape, people are a fundamental part of it. The problem was, I only had one person in the shot (when I took it -- of course I always try to avoid people!). It wasn't til later that I thought about wanting someone in it. So, since I had only one, I thought having him ghosted was better for the story than having him 'real'.
Love this and particularly like the ghost! You could write a story about the lone commuter who got off at the wrong station, started walking home, took a wrong turn and is still seen walking to this day!
I really like how the arches frame our ghostly commuter. I know you weren't thrilled with the ghost, but I really like it. It gives a sense for all the people who use this bridge and inhabit the city.
I don't think this is at all dull Taffy. IMHO you have captured a real urban landscape, warts 'n all. You've got old/new, water/land, natural/constructed, empty/person, low-rise/high-rise, and complete/incomplete (and maybe more). I think the ghost is, in fact, the icing on the cake.
I think this is awesome and the ghost walker is perfect. What is the realistic HDR video?,I'd love to watch it and if this is an example,,I want to learn
As everyone has said, not dull at all. I also love an urban landscape, and this shows well the tall buildings and almost a sense of confinement. I really like the ghost!
I like this version of hdr much better than what people usually do to hdr shots. But I can see why it bothers you in some ways. For me the right hand side is cluttered (but it's not like you can move all the scaffolding out of the way!). The ghost figure is a nice addition but I wonder if going for a little more abstraction by cropping it or something like that might be what it needs to create interest. I'm just thinking off the top of my head, so take it for what it's worth!
@olivetreeann Thanks for your thoughtful comments, as always! I'm liking it more now that I see what others have seen in it. That's one of the things I do love about this site!
