Robbing And Thieving

I had a post a few months ago about how Taiwanese like to use the outside area around their house as extra storage. Here is one house that does it like a champ. Everything from yards of plastic tubing, to old lamp covers, to a punching bag. The amount of stuff keeps going for another few meters in either direction. I was unable to photograph it in it's entirety.

This is the side of an apartment that also serves as the headquarters for some sort of business involving window installment. They are actually nice people as in the summer time they have a big jug of cold homemade tea set up in the alley for anybody and everybody to enjoy and cool off for free.

With all this stuff, I always wondered if it ever got blown away, or worse yet, stolen. Well sometimes on late night walks with my dog, I will see various homeless guys going through this stuff and taking what they want. Granted I don't think the owners really care. However a few days ago one homeless guy got really bold and went into the office area and sat in a chair and was watching their TV.

This caused me to stress out a little as I wasn't sure if i could properly express (in chinese) to owners the next day that a homeless guy broke into their office and was watching tv and eating their food. But I guess they found out anyway, because since then, they have put the metal gate down in front of their door.

Now all that's left is to see somebody putting stuff there. Taiwan has some pretty strict and almost illogical trash and recycle rules. It wouldn't surprise me to one day see some people depositing some difficult to throw out old home items here. I myself have an old can of WD-40 that I'm not sure how to dispose of....
