Let me list a few "facts" about Taiwanese, which for the purpose of today's post we will pretend are completely true:
1. Taiwanese don't have cars.
2. Taiwanese are deathly afraid of the sun.
3. Taiwanese can't swim.
This means if you want to get to the beach, you have to do some pretty deep hunting to find somebody who both has a car and likes the beach. It doesn't end there though, you also have to pray that they have a weekday off (less traffic and more parking on weekdays) and they like dogs. If you are lucky enough to find this person, you then have to browbeat...errr...I mean encourage them to take you to the beach.
Today though I was fortunate enough that a friend didn't mind giving up her one day off a week to take me, my dog, and a friend to the beach. As per usual my dog enjoyed herself immensely, spending most of the time running back and forth in the water and jumping over the waves.
It was especially nice as for most day time in the summer she has been a prisoner inside the house, as she will burst into flames if she goes outside. Night walks through the park are nice, but I think she was beginning to think she was a vampire. So I'm glad that she could get out in the sun before she spent any more time eying my neck.
