This is part of the old rail-line that originally connected Sarzeau on the south coast of Brittany with the port of St. Malo on the north coast. There are plans to convert all of the old rail route to a green road for cyclists and pedestrians and almost half has been completed. The renovated part starts just behind where I was standing to take this and extends south for a little over 50 kilometres.
The structures on the left are several blocks of disused gas-bottle cages ready for recycling. (I have posted another version of this in my Doubletakes album for the ETSOOI challenge no. 62.)
This image is SOOC and is part of my ongoing OCOLOY project - you can read more about it in my post for 1 January and in my profile.
I feel like I'm sitting on the tracks! Great pov! We have many miles of railroad tracks converted to trails for walking, bicycling, jogging, and the like. It is called the Rails to Trails project, and it is quite a success. Using the nearby "rail trail," it is possible to travel from Pittsburgh all the way to Washington DC!
Structure on the left, disarray to the right, divided by the rails reclaimed by time. When time has passed, which side of the tracks does the viewer identify with? Brilliant.
Love how the lines draw your eyes to the end or point of no return!! We had a lot of tracks pulled up here too and nothing done with them! Such a shame!!! A walking cyclist trail would be awesome!! Great in B/W and wonderful composition! FAV!
