OCOLOY Day 61: A Place of Refuge

This is Chania sitting on the circular staircase that leads to our bedroom; she was being chased by Mitzi, but Mitzi is afraid of the open risers and Chania knows that, so she escapes here while Mitzi sits just below and glowers.

This image is SOOC and is part of my ongoing OCOLOY project - you can read more about it in my post for 1 January and in my profile.
What a smart kitty cat, that's what I love so much about them. Love hearing the name of your dog cause I had a black cockapoo Mitzie growing up. Your photo looks great and I love the shadow reflection on the wall, great lighting too.

Chania is a clever cat :)...wonderful shot, lighting, composition

@juleshoogstraanderson Thank you. Our previous and much loved rescue dog Princesse was also a black cockapoo except that as her father was the cocker spaniel and her mother the poodle - we always thought of her as a Spoodle!

@gamelee You make a good point Lee and it's one of the reasons that I persevere with this project. I looked at this before posting and thought, "No, it's too dull.". But then I said to my myself, "Get objective, the histogram is telling you that this is just right.". So, Mr Fuji has the last word again...

Smug is the only word for the look on this cat's face.

@tunia When she first settled there she did a bit of reassurance grooming and then sat like this... I think she's saying, "Dog? There's a dog? Well where, for goodness sake?"

Chania is very smart to pick up on a spot of safety that open risers give her! i like the shadow too and your project!

She carries herself with a regal pose here. Like she is the queen of the roost. Love the capture and have been enjoying your OCOLOY project..

Voices off! Love Chania's beady eye keeping tabs on Mitzi. Super capture with just 3 materials.

Smart cat! Knows where she is safe. Great photo... I'm missing something.... what is OCOLOY??
March 2nd, 2016
@aglennc Thanks Anita - what you're missing is in the last line of my commentary: "This image is SOOC and is part of my ongoing OCOLOY project - you can read more about it in my post for 1 January and in my profile."

Love that out-of-the-corner-of-her-eye look that Chania is giving! Great shot!

Ok, I am a cat person, and I am biased towards cat pictures, but ..... this one has such a great expression: not only in the face, but in the whole posture that tell you "I know you are there. I am completely aware of you although I am not moving a muscle". Beautiful study of cat personality.

Great expression you've caught there. And I like the posture with the paws neatly together.

Such a typical shot of a cat. Ears forward, feet and tail tucked around the bottom. Wonderful shot. (And I don't often comment on animal photos.)

Ah, OK that makes sense. Sounds like something I should do, since I rarely change from mmy 18mm to 270m lens...... Sounds like you and your wife have had your problems, and you lost your little dog..... Too much! We understand the losing of a special pet. Been there so many times with the beloved dogs we've had in our lives. Anyway, thanks for the explanation.... I just might try it one of these days. Do a month of it, maybe, at least.

@aglennc I thought I remembered you joining in on one of my nf50-sooc Septembers Anita, which is where the motivation to do this came from.

Funny how they figure these things out. I know some people who aren't this smart. LOL
