Tomb of Ralph Fitzherbert and his wife Elizabeth

Of particular interest on this effigy is the 'witch mark', an intertwined double V over his heart. This invokes the Virgin Mary to protect him from spirits. The other interesting detail is the pendant around his neck, which is the white boar of Richard III. The tomb is in the Church of St Mary and St Barlok in Derbyshire.
So cold in the stark white marble and great interesting facts ! - Great shot !

Interesting detail. I would never have noticed the witch mark, or even if I had I wouldn't know the significance. Nice capture
