Ditchling Beacon was once the site for a warning beacon ready to light in times of imminent invasion and visible for miles around.
It is the highest point in East Sussex and offers commanding 360 degree views from its summit: south out to sea, north across the Weald and east-west across the Downs.
The site is also of archaeological interest, with remains of an Iron Age hillfort.
I appreciate all the nice comments and favs. It ended up on TP and PP so thanks very much :)
