Stile and Dog Gate at Ditchling Beacon by 4rky

Stile and Dog Gate at Ditchling Beacon

Ditchling Beacon was once the site for a warning beacon ready to light in times of imminent invasion and visible for miles around.

It is the highest point in East Sussex and offers commanding 360 degree views from its summit: south out to sea, north across the Weald and east-west across the Downs.

The site is also of archaeological interest, with remains of an Iron Age hillfort.
What a great view!

Love this, so much potential beyond the stile! I am a huge fan of hiking. Haven't tried Ditchling Beacon, must rectify that. It looks great!

Love this photo, the view, texture in the wood..even the barbed wire! I only know of it from husband cycling over it..I believe it is hard work!
