My old friend, my tripod, collapsed in a heap, spewed out a couple of pieces, and died on me this morning. It can't be fixed, but I have one that I can use at a push, but it's very flimsy (I think it was an extra that came with some other equipment), so it's something I would only want to use until I can get something else. So any tripod recommendations.......what do you use.......do you like it......are you considering getting anything better? :-)
(Apologies to the people who commented....I uploaded the wrong one.....more coffee needed :-)

I really like the bright colour against all that white :)
Tripods....I have two, a Velbon Sherpa, solid, basic, heavy, awkward to carry but works a treat and is my first choice indoors. Also a Giottos Vitruvian, doesn't feel as solid or stable as the Velbon but seems to cope ok with my 50d and 24-105 lens well enough and as it's lighter and much easier to carry than the Velbon it's my first choice for when I go walkabout :)
@bluefirebucket thanks Mick.......I'll check out both of those tripods out, as the one I'm left with feels about as strong as solid as clothes hangers taped together ;-)
Very colourful. I hate to use the word 'pretty' again, but it is. :)
I have a Manfrotto 055XPROB with a Manfrotto 496RC2 ball head and I love it. The ball head allows for all sorts of positions and the way centre column works on the tripod makes it very versatile (it can get very low or be used as a boom arm for overhead shots).
It's a very sturdy bit of kit - and has survived me for quite a while. :)
I'm not intending to replace it any time soon - unless I go for the lighter carbon fibre version.
@wudybearest thanks Judy.....at least I got some use out of my eggcups :-) @debihas27 thank you Debi :-) @andreajoy thank you so much Andrea......very much appreciated :D @humphreyhippo that sounds like just the sort I want...one with a center column so that I can get the camera completely parallel to what I'm shooting......save me trying to hold my breath and hoping for the best :-) lol....thank you.......I'll check it out :-) @richardcreese thank you so much Richard.......really appreciated :-) It sounds like you have a great tripod......funny how we get so attached to out kit.....I loved my old tripod :-) @janine3 thank you so much Janine :-)

I got my tripod from a car boot sale for £1 about five years ago, it's a solid all metal construction and I love it.
