The thistle is blooming across the prairie and fields, most of which is Canadian Thistle. However, this thistle, while still spiky, has a different growth and flower. I believe it is milk thistle, but, whatever variety it is, it is loved by bees, spiders, and I find it much more aesthestically pleasing than it's Canadian Thistle relative.
@kdneal@fivealive@sbolden Thank you. These flower heads are quite feathery and the bees literally burrow their way around and through the petals picking up pollen. Hence his dusting of yellow specks.
