I've finally cut down the hollyhock stems. I left them so the seeds could ripen and I could gather some for next year. This one lone bloom was way atop a stem. I have since learned had I pruned back the stems, I probably could have gotten a second bloom. I will try that next year, as I would love to have these blooming all season.
