Why Americans are Obese by allie912

Why Americans are Obese

I went to the movies this afternoon to see Hugo, based on an award-winning children's book. I usually wait for movies to come to TV but since I wanted to see the 3D version, I felt justified in spending the money. I never buy junk food but even so I was not prepared for the high prices and enormous sizes of items at the snack bar. What you don't see in this picture (taken surreptitiously) was the super-sized grandmother going back for more food.
BTW the movie was a technical wonder. Here is the link to the trailer: http://www.hugomovie.com/?gclid=CKGlttGZ56wCFQnf4Aoda1XYLQ#video
You have to have snacks at the movies! Yummy

If you haven't been to the movie theater lately, one will be in for a big shock. I refuse to buy snacks there. It is ungodly to pay such a price. The price of the movie is bad enough.

I don't even go to the movies most of the time anymore because everything is so expensive. I only go if it's something that absolutely HAS to be seen on the big screen. I read somewhere once that a large movie theater popcorn without butter is equivalent in calories to two Big Macs.

I just saw a commercial for this movie and a brief review of it on a cable channel I was passing by. It looks really good. Is it only in 3D? I think that might give me a headache. How did you like it? It's been a while since I was at the movies, but those snacks have always been overpriced. Of course when I had to remove corn from my diet, there was really nothing in the theater I was interested in eating anyway, so I've always saved on that stuff! Grandpa looks like he's already had too much in this shot, and the little ones were probably bouncing off the walls by the end of the movie! Great sneaky shot!

The movie is also available in standard format but I wanted the 3D experience. It was an excellent production, especially if you like old silent movies and Paris. what a combination!

Yes I noticed the portion sizes in restaurants in the States..no wonder there are so many obese people...feel sorry for the kids having to carry all that weight around...can't be healthy..Great candid shot Allison.
