John and I love to go to the VMFA (Virginia Museum of Fine Arts) on Friday evenings. We usually look at one or two small exhibits and then eat in the cafe. I took this picture looking out across the grounds. Across the lawn you can see the Confederate War Memorial Chapel. Here is a brief description of the building:
The Pelham or "Confederate War Memorial Chapel" was erected May 8th, 1887 in memory of all of the Confederate war dead, with the Chapel becoming a meeting place and worship center for the veterans who resided at the R. E. Lee Camp Soldiers' Home. The Confederate Veterans themselves, many of them disabled and impoverished, funded the construction.
I like the juxtaposition of the old chapel and the newest addition to the Virginia Museum, completed last year.
This looks like a wonderful museum to visit. It sounds like you had a good visit there. I really like how you have the chapel in the background. Great composition.
Yay.... I have something to contribute. First off, I like this shot, Allison...and 2nd...last June I visited that chapel and posted a collage on 365....but since I am not posting much of anything these days, here is a link to one of my past posts: http://365project.org/hwy61/365-2011/2011-06-10
