Beloved children's author and cultural icon Dr. Seuss was born on March 2 in 1904. He died in 1991 but his memory lives on in the amazing collection of beginning reader and read-aloud stories he wrote. He has also been memorialized through a special celebration that takes place each year on March 2. "Read Across America" Day now in its 20th year, focuses on motivating children and teens to read, through events, partnerships, and reading resources. In the Lower School at Collegiate we had 3 surprise announcements for everyone to stop what they were doing and just read. This was a celebration after my own heart!
You might recognize this First Grade teacher who has posed for me before. http://365project.org/allie912/365/2017-01-25 She has totally embraced the day with books, costumes and activities.
