Richmond has a wide variety of suburban trees, oak, redbud, beech, pine, dogwood and maple, to name the most common. It is the maple that provides the best autumn color, and this is my favorite maple tree in the neighborhood. Every year I stop to admire the glorious blaze of color lighting up the southern end of Hamilton Street. By Halloween the branches are usually bare, but as they say, “It was fun while it lasted.”
