There was a threat of rain as I took my afternoon walk. I came upon a car parked at the curb. I couldn't tell what make or model it was because it was draped with a protective cover. And to keep the cover from blowing away? This beautiful old volume that should have been kept in a wood-panelled library, not on the hood of a car. Some people are just clods.
That is really cruel. I'm surprised you didn't inquire within. You probably could have swapped it for a rock. It would be just as meaningful to them. then you could have salvaged it from further disgrace.
