A Very European Look

Do you notice anything out of the ordinary about this kitchen window? If you said “no screen” you would be correct. It is very unusual for windows in Richmond, and probably anywhere in the United States, to go without screens. In our European travels we stayed in many rooms with unscreened windows. I’m guessing they didn’t have the mosquitoes we do. Whether the bugs stayed away from this home or the resident just didn’t care, I couldn’t say.

I don't think there would be many homes down under who don't have screens either

I never thought of that--we just expect windows in the U.S. to have screens. Here in Louisiana I would have all sorts of bugs in my house without them.
