Girls from 4 different schools came to Collegiate for a week-long afternoon workshop of reading and creating folktales. I happened to catch them as they were preparing to have their dress rehearsal. I invited myself to watch and was delighted with their imaginative production. They wrote an original pourquoi story*, "Why the Cheetah has Speed" inspired by the music and folklore of Nigeria. Can you tell that the two girls in the middle are portraying cheetahs? Behind them, projected on the screen, is a photo of what they described as the "golden threaded grassland" of the story. Amazing what this group created in just a few days.
