From our balcony seats in the Altria Theater we could really appreciate the exotic design that set the tone of what used to be called The Mosque. Following seven years of planning and two years of construction, the Mosque Theater opened more than 90 years ago. It was the inspiration of the Potentate of the ACCA Temple, a Shriner fraternal organization, and was designed to be an entertainment palace for the City of Richmond.
