Here is the first lily of the valley unfurled in my yard. My parents married on May 13 in the depth of the Depression with a very simple ceremony, but my mother would tell me every year, as their anniversary approached, how she carried a nosegay of lilies of the valley. Seeing them in their sweet simplicity always brings to mind the love of this steadfast couple.
