What is it like to be the mother of a 13 year old boy? It's a front room full of Legos and Nerf guns that never seem to get cleaned up. It's hugging your son as he's walking out the door to catch the bus and he says, "Mom, you smell like a fart!" It's trying not to laugh with him as you are shopping and an elderly customer in front of you let's a loud one rip. Glancing sideways to see if he's holding it together. Seriously impressed that he is. It's taking him to a certain sporting goods store (Dick's) and having him giggle every time I call it by name...sigh. It's singing and dancing with him in the car to a bad rap song and him not even caring or embarrassed that I am acting so dorky. This dorky, fart smelling (apparently) mom, adores have a fun, funny, precious teenaged son to laugh with. May the Legos always stay put while you continue to play and imagine. Well maybe you could straighten them a little...:).
A lovely inside into your life and son. I'm glad you have so many laughs together. Funny I was just wondering why my son smells like fart all the time. Is it what I'm feeding him? But we eat the same food!!
It has been so many years since my living room looked like this or since I enjoyed all the fun moments you come and about. Treasure them, as I know you do, because all too soon they will be gone
What a lovely story. Long may he stay 13 years old. Boys never grow up I think and why would you want them to. My 70 year old husband still plays with Lego and Meccano and has lots of his latest projects scattered around the house. Books piled on the coffee table in the rumpus room etc and I wouldn't change a thing about him. I had two daughters but they take after their father.
My sons are already grown up. Enjoy every moment with your son - even if it is sometimes not so easy ;-). Time is running so fast. Sometimes I want to stop it.
