Painted Turtle

Usually can't get this close, but at this pond with a bridge over it the turtles swim over hoping for a handout. This is a common turtle around here with the red marks around the edge and yellow stripes on the face. Had never noticed the red line down the middle of the carapace before, because I usually have a side view.
Nice capture of the painted turtle! We saw one sunning itself on our walk last Saturday that I planned to post......probably tomorrow .

Great capture. Nice to see it without algae being all over it. That's the way I find a lot of them around here.

That an interesting view I've never caught - never noticed that "rudder" in the back. I don't think I've seen the red markings here on the turtles.

Beautiful & so very clean...our turtles here mostly ' grow their own gardens on their backs.'ha-ha
