I thought this was some dog poop on the grass by the pond but looked closer and saw a tiny snapping turtle. It made me sad to think about someone stepping on him or a dog killing him, so I got a leaf and moved him to the edge of the pond. When I came back later he had moved on, which I was glad of. Existence is so fragile for so many young animals.
I'm not sure I would have spotted him as a turtle that small - I've seen a few larger snapping turtles. Sweet of you to rescue him - at least for a while.
ah... and here he is in all his awesomeness! What a cool looking little guy! So glad you rescued him! Wonderful shot - I can appreciate him in all his glory!
