The Great Australian Clock, designed and made by Chris Cook

One of the clocks featured in Sydney's QVB - Queen Victoria Building
The Great Australian Clock weighs four tonnes and stands ten metres tall. It includes 33 scenes from Australian history seen from both Aboriginal and European perspectives. An Aboriginal hunter circles the exterior of the clock continuously, representing the never ending passage of time.
That thing is massive!! Having had 8 tonns of soil and rocks deposited at the front of our house around Christmas, I can attest that 4 tonns is a lot of weight! It definitely is an immovable object. I like that they have these scenes on it....is this really at eye level, or were you at a higher floor when you took the photo?

Great shot, that is one big clock, and beautifully designed.

@panthora it hangs from the ceiling - I was on one of the upper floors - the QVB is a magnificent building - I have quite a few photos and would like to feature in a monthly theme - maybe next month

@annied Wow, you are kidding!! 4 tonns hanging from the ceiling! That must be some structural reinforcement, but you'd better not be walking underneath it, anyway, just to be on the safe side, you know!

January 10th, 2015
@annied You'd get a hernia putting it on there too. ha ha.
